Kathmandu – With the goal of creating 5,000 self-employment opportunities, Tapai Ko Bazaar has launched the “Vetra Aeron” electric scooter in Nepal, targeting the growing ride-sharing market.
The electric scooter has been introduced through a collaboration between Tapai Ko Bazaar and Vetra Motors Pvt. Ltd., with a price tag of NPR 380,000. According to the companies, the initiative aims to help ride-sharing workers become owners of their own vehicles instead of depending on rented bikes and scooters.
Under the scheme, riders can acquire the electric scooter with zero down payment and gradually gain ownership by paying installments from their daily earnings. The company said the plan is designed to provide an affordable pathway for ride-sharing workers to own their means of income.
Currently, many ride-sharing platforms provide rented motorcycles and scooters at daily rates ranging from NPR 800 to NPR 1,000. Tapai Ko Bazaar stated that the new initiative aims to offer riders a similar financial commitment while helping them build ownership of their own electric vehicle.
The launch event was attended by former Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising as the chief guest. Speaking at the programme, Ghising said that expanding the use of electric vehicles can contribute to creating employment and self-employment opportunities within Nepal.
Tapai Ko Bazaar CEO Maya Lama said the company had started working on the plan two years ago with the objective of connecting 5,000 people with self-employment opportunities. She said the programme has now moved forward with support from Best Finance and Yango after overcoming various challenges.
The company plans to expand the use of electric scooters in the ride-sharing sector and develop a dedicated electric mobility ecosystem in Nepal. It has also opened applications for authorised dealers across the country.
According to Vetra Motors, the Vetra Aeron electric scooter can provide a range of more than 250 kilometres on a full charge. The scooter has been designed for Nepal’s roads and geography, featuring 165 mm ground clearance, a 5,000-watt motor and a 120Ah LFP battery, according to the company.
The company said the scooter is especially suitable for ride-sharing and ride-hailing services. Vetra Motors Director Manish Shrestha stated that the vehicle was developed considering Nepal’s diverse road conditions, including uphill and downhill routes.
To make the scooter accessible to riders, Tapai Ko Bazaar has arranged a zero percent down payment financing facility through its office in Panipokhari, Kathmandu, in collaboration with Best Finance.
Tapai Ko Bazaar Managing Director Sushil Sangraula said the company has already been providing financial support and sales services for electric vans and electric buses across Nepal, and the electric scooter programme is an extension of its efforts to promote electric mobility.
The company stated that the initiative aims not only to increase electric vehicle adoption but also to create new employment opportunities in the ride-sharing sector. Interested riders can access the service through Tapai Ko Bazaar showrooms located in Panipokhari, Butwal and Birtamode.
To participate in the scheme, riders are required to submit their National Identity Card, PAN card, driving licence and a photograph, according to the company.
