Women Celebrate International Women’s Day at Creative Gathering
Kathmandu – A meaningful event to mark International Women’s Day was held on Sunday at Higher Ground Café, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds for an afternoon of creativity, conversation and community building.
Organized around this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” the gathering emphasized the importance of women supporting and uplifting one another for the benefit of broader society. Unlike conventional celebrations, the event adopted an informal and relaxed atmosphere, encouraging interaction and self‑expression.
Participants sipped coffee, picked up paintbrushes, and created artworks on canvas as they engaged in heartfelt conversations. The café buzzed with reflections on personal experiences, spanning challenges, faith, resilience and hope.
Speaking at the event, several attendees shared stories of overcoming obstacles and the role of community support in their journeys. Many highlighted the therapeutic impact of art and dialogue, describing the experience as both empowering and unifying.
“The space felt safe and inspiring,” said one participant. “It reminded us that empowerment begins with listening, sharing, and standing beside one another.”
In addition to nurturing creativity, the gathering provided an opportunity for women to forge new friendships and strengthen existing bonds, contributing to a palpable sense of solidarity.
The event encapsulated the spirit of International Women’s Day: when women invest in each other through encouragement, creativity and collaboration, the impact resonates far beyond the room.
