Nepal clearing house limited and Lankapay launch cross border digital payment connectivity
Kathmandu-Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) and LankaPay have officially launched cross-border QR payment connectivity between Nepal and Sri Lanka, enabling Nepali travellers visiting Sri Lanka to make seamless digital payments through connectIPS and selected mobile banking applications using LankaQR.
The initiative was formally announced during a special event held in Colombo, attended by senior officials from Nepal Rastra Bank, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, NCHL, and representatives from participating banks and financial institutions of both countries.
According to NCHL, the collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening regional financial integration by promoting interoperable, real-time, and secure payment systems across South Asia. The initiative is also expected to support tourism, regional connectivity, and cross-border digital commerce between Nepal and Sri Lanka.The payment integration allows Nepali users to make QR-based transactions in Sri Lanka using digital platforms connected with Nepal’s banking system, making international payments more convenient for travellers.
