Nepal’s Shinta Mani Mustang Named World’s Top Luxury Hotel
KATHMANDU: Nepal has earned global recognition in luxury tourism after Shinta Mani Mustang was named the World’s No. 1 Luxury Hotel in Robb Report’s “50 Greatest Luxury Hotels on Earth 2026” ranking. The achievement places the Mustang-based retreat ahead of some of the world’s most renowned luxury hotels and marks a major milestone for Nepal’s hospitality industry.
Located in Jomsom, Lower Mustang, the 29-suite luxury hotel opened in August 2023 and serves as a gateway to the historic Upper Mustang region. The property combines contemporary luxury with the region’s unique Tibetan Buddhist heritage, dramatic Himalayan landscapes, and immersive cultural experiences.
The annual ranking was selected by Robb Report’s 24 Travel Masters, a panel of leading international luxury travel advisers who evaluate hotels based on exceptional service, design, guest experience, authenticity, and overall excellence. The publication described Shinta Mani Mustang as a remarkable retreat offering breathtaking scenery and world-class hospitality.
Designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, the hotel offers personalized experiences, including guided cultural excursions, wellness programmes inspired by traditional Tibetan healing, local cuisine, and carefully curated adventures that introduce visitors to Mustang’s ancient monasteries, villages, and landscapes.
Since its opening, Shinta Mani Mustang has received several prestigious international accolades, including recognition by National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and previous Robb Report awards. Its latest achievement as the world’s top luxury hotel further strengthens Nepal’s position as an emerging destination for high-end international tourism.
Industry leaders say the recognition is not only a success for the hotel but also for Nepal’s tourism sector, demonstrating that the country can compete with the world’s leading luxury destinations while showcasing its rich culture, natural beauty, and authentic hospitality.
