Kathmandu – World Photography Day is observed every year on August 19, celebrating the art, science and impact of photography in documenting moments, people, cultures and history.
The day recognizes photographers around the world who use images to tell stories, preserve memories and highlight important social and environmental issues. From professional cameras to smartphones, photography has become one of the most powerful forms of visual communication in the digital age.
In Nepal, photography plays an important role in showcasing the country’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, traditions and diverse communities to audiences around the world.
To mark World Photography Day today, the National Forum of Photojournalists(NFPJ,Nepal) is organizing two photo exhibitions — “China Photo Exhibition” and “Beautiful Bangladesh” — at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square, Kathmandu.
World Photography Day also encourages people to capture meaningful moments and share their unique perspectives through photographs.
