Nuwakot – President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday visited several flood-affected areas of Nuwakot to assess the damage caused by the devastating Bhotekoshi River flood and meet families affected by the disaster.
During the visit, President Paudel received a briefing from the District Security Committee on the impact of the flood and the resulting loss of lives and property. Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Regmi and other committee members presented details of the damage caused by the flood originating in neighbouring Rasuwa.
Regmi also briefed the President on ongoing search and rescue, relief, rehabilitation and immediate reconstruction efforts in the affected areas. The briefing covered measures being taken to assist affected families and restore essential services and infrastructure.
President Paudel also visited a holding centre for flood-affected people in Nuwakot, where affected residents shared their experiences and concerns. The victims highlighted the losses caused by the unexpected flood and called for stronger and faster efforts from the government, aid agencies and other concerned stakeholders for search and rescue, relief and rehabilitation.
The President listened to the concerns of the affected residents and reviewed the situation at the holding centre. He also visited a Nepali Army camp in Trishuli, Nuwakot, which has been involved in the disaster response.
As part of the same visit, President Paudel also inspected flood-affected areas of Rasuwa to observe the situation on the ground and review the ongoing response to the disaster.
