Kathmandu – A new Nepal-developed communication app, Callexa, has been launched with a feature that allows users to see who is calling and why before deciding whether to answer.
Launched on October 18, 2026, the app aims to make phone conversations more transparent and reduce uncertainty around unfamiliar calls. It was developed by Callexa App Pvt. Ltd. under the slogan “Know Why. Before You Answer.”
Unlike conventional caller identification services, Callexa allows callers to provide a short reason for contacting someone before placing a call through the app. The recipient can then view the caller’s identity and the stated purpose of the call.
The app also includes profile verification features intended to help users distinguish verified accounts from unverified information. According to the company, this can give people more context before accepting an incoming call.
Beyond caller identification, Callexa offers messaging, audio calls and video calls. Users can also share posts, stories and short videos through its social networking features, bringing several communication services into one platform.
The application includes community-focused services such as Travel Together, designed to connect people interested in similar journeys, and a blood donation feature intended to help donors and people seeking blood find one another.
Callexa founder Jeevan Raut said the application was developed to address the uncertainty people often face when receiving calls from unfamiliar numbers. He explained that knowing the purpose of a call in advance could help users communicate with greater clarity and confidence.
According to the company, Callexa attracted approximately 2,000 users during its initial launch period. The development team plans to improve the application using feedback and expand its reach in Nepal and beyond.
Callexa is available for Android and iOS devices through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can search for “Callexa” to download the application, although availability may vary by region.
The launch adds another locally developed product to Nepal’s growing technology sector, offering a different approach to managing calls and connecting people through digital communication.
