Legends new record: Kami Rita Sherpa’s 29th Mt. Everest climb and Purnima Shrestha’s double triumph
Mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa has conquered Mount Everest for the 29th time! With this accomplishment, he has climbed the world’s highest peak more times than anyone else, earning him worldwide fame.
In a thrilling adventure, photojournalist Purnima Shrestha has achieved her third successful climb to Mount Everest.
On 12th May, Sherpa reached the summit at 7:25 AM, whereas Shrestha made it at 6:40 AM, just an hour earlier on the same day.
Likewise, Shrestha reached the summit for the second time today at 3:05 AM, marking her second climb within a week. Her first climb to the summit was in 2018.
Apart from conquering K2, Pakistan’s second-highest peak globally, Shrestha has climbed eight other Himalayan peaks higher than 8,000 meters. She has been involved in photojournalism for the past decade and was born in Aarughat, Gorkha district.
At 54 years old, Kami Rita Sherpa has become one of the most successful climbers of Mount Everest in personal terms. Born in Solukhumbu, he began his Himalayan conquest in 1992. Prior to this, he had successfully climbed peaks like K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu.
With the arrival of the spring season, many climbers have successfully summited Mount Everest.
