Altai Weasel: Nepal’s agile hunter of the Himalayas
The Himalayan region of Nepal is home to the elusive Altai Weasel, also known as the Mountain Weasel. These small yet fierce carnivores are crucial to maintaining the ecological balance, as they primarily hunt pikas and other small mammals, effectively controlling rodent populations.
Listed as Near Threatened, the Altai Weasel is an expert in agility, capable of climbing, running, and swimming with remarkable speed and skill. Their long, slender bodies and short legs are specially adapted for navigating the rugged Himalayan terrain.
