ChildSafeNet collaborates with TikTok for digital safety
ChildSafeNet launched a partnership with TikTok to promote digital safety for children and youth in Nepal on the 22nd November. The first phase focused on training children, parents, and teachers in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Koshi provinces on safe digital practices.
As part of the initiative, a digital safety workshop was held in Lalitpur, engaging over 40 participants from 20 schools and colleges. Attendees shared their experiences with technology, discussing challenges like cyberbullying, hate speech, misinformation, and online grooming. They also learned to protect themselves from sextortion, romance scams, and exploitation.
Anil Raghuvanshi, founder of ChildSafeNet led an interactive session on responsible social media use, highlighting TikTok’s community guidelines. A panel featuring Srichchha Pradhan, Miss Nepal World 2023; Parakram Rana, fashion designer; and actor Angel Rai shared insights on overcoming online challenges.
Participants emphasized the need for collaboration among the government, law enforcement, schools, and tech companies to enhance digital safety. ChildSafeNet will also forward reports of abuse on TikTok to the platform through its Community Partner Channel.
