Big Move: Nepal–Slovenia Eye Strong Economic Partnership
Kathmandu-A meeting was held at the secretariat of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry between Senior Vice President Anjan Shrestha and Slovenia’s resident Ambassador to Nepal, Tomaž Mensin.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the strong potential for expanding trade and investment between Nepal and Slovenia, stressing the need to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. Senior Vice President Shrestha described Slovenia as a promising partner and expressed confidence in elevating bilateral relations to a new level. He noted that Nepal has recently introduced several policy reforms to attract foreign investment and, with the formation of a stable majority government, the private sector remains optimistic about improved policy stability. He also stated that FNCCI is ready to promote stronger ties through business-to-business (B2B) cooperation, trade visits, and joint platforms.
Ambassador Mensin acknowledged the friendly relations between the two countries and emphasized that economic partnership can be further expanded. He noted that Slovenia views Nepal as a beautiful Himalayan nation and a desirable destination, adding that there is significant scope for cooperation in areas such as technology transfer, innovation, and joint investment.
The meeting was also attended by Honorary Consul of Slovenia to Nepal, Haribhakta Sharma. Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Slovenia were established in 1997.
