Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated Nepal’s first hydrogen car and refueling system today at Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel, Kavre. The launch occurred ahead of the university’s 29th convocation ceremony.
The hydrogen car, manufactured by Hyundai in Korea, was acquired by the university with the support of Nepal Oil Corporation for $33,000. In his brief remarks, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that using hydrogen technology would help reduce carbon emissions and lower pollution levels.
Hydrogen cars, powered by hydrogen fuel cells, offer a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuel vehicles. They generate electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water vapor as a byproduct, thus providing an eco-friendly and efficient transportation option for a cleaner future.
