Uber Set To Launch In Nepal With Taximandu Partnership
Kathmandu — Global ride-sharing giant Uber is preparing to enter the Nepali market through a strategic partnership with local ride-sharing platform Taximandu.
Under the agreement, Taximandu will work as Uber’s back-office partner in Nepal, handling driver management, technical coordination, onboarding of new drivers, and helping drivers adapt to Uber’s digital system.
According to Taximandu founder Arjun KC, drivers already associated with Taximandu will naturally be connected to Uber’s network once the service officially begins. Taximandu had previously provided similar back-office support for another international ride-sharing company, Yango.
Uber has already started trial operations in the Kathmandu Valley. Some tourists and local users have reportedly begun receiving notifications on the Uber app showing service availability in Kathmandu.
KC said the company plans to hold a pre-launch by June 1 and begin full commercial service within a month, after completing legal and regulatory procedures.
With Uber’s entry, Nepal’s ride-sharing market is expected to see stronger competition and wider service options for users.
Uber’s planned services in Nepal include ride booking for taxis, cars and bikes, food delivery, parcel delivery, and logistics services for businesses.
