KIST Teaching Hospital expands affordable Healthcare access for SSF and EPF members
Kathmandu: KIST Teaching Hospital has expanded accessible and specialized healthcare services for members of Nepal’s Social Security Fund (SSF) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF), helping eligible patients receive quality treatment with reduced financial burden.
According to the hospital, SSF and EPF members can use their entitled healthcare benefits while receiving treatment at KIST Teaching Hospital. The service is aimed at making advanced medical care more affordable, convenient, and accessible for working individuals and fund contributors.
Under the SSF scheme, members receiving outpatient and inpatient services are required to pay only 20 percent of the treatment cost, while the remaining 80 percent is covered by the Social Security Fund. This arrangement allows patients to seek medical care without having to bear the full cost of treatment.
Similarly, EPF members admitted for hospital treatment can receive reimbursement of up to NPR 100,000 per year for general illnesses. For critical illnesses, members are eligible for reimbursement of up to NPR 1 million throughout their service period, as per the applicable guidelines.
The hospital said the process to access these benefits has been made simple and patient-friendly. Eligible patients only need to register their SSF card or EPF membership number at the dedicated SSF/EPF Help Desk at KIST Teaching Hospital. After completing the required formalities, they can receive treatment under the respective scheme.
KIST Teaching Hospital provides a wide range of specialized medical services under these schemes, including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, cardiology, nephrology, ophthalmology, and other specialty care.
The hospital also highlighted that it became the first hospital in Nepal to successfully provide kidney transplant services under the Social Security Fund. It described the achievement as a major step toward making advanced and life-saving treatment accessible through Nepal’s national social security system.
Backed by experienced specialists, modern medical technology, and its status as an NABH-accredited medical college, KIST Teaching Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable, affordable, and high-quality healthcare services.
The hospital has encouraged all eligible SSF and EPF members to make full use of the healthcare benefits available to them.
