Flydubai nears launch of daily direct Pokhara-Dubai Flights After Successful Airport Assessment
Pokhara-UAE-based carrier Flydubai has signaled its readiness to begin daily direct flights between Pokhara and Dubai following a comprehensive technical inspection of Pokhara International Airport.
A Flydubai delegation led by Vice President for Risk Management, Adrian Lucas, completed an on-site assessment of the airport’s infrastructure, safety systems, runway facilities, and operational capabilities. The team also held nearly six hours of discussions with Airport General Manager Jagannath Niraula and technical officials.Following the inspection, Lucas met with Dhanraj Acharya and stated that Pokhara International Airport is technically and operationally ready to handle regular international commercial flights. He reaffirmed Flydubai’s strong interest in launching daily direct services connecting Pokhara and Dubai.
Lucas also acknowledged the mayor’s efforts to facilitate international flight operations and enhance Pokhara’s global air connectivity.The proposed route is expected to significantly expand Pokhara’s international reach. Through Flydubai’s partnership with Emirates, travelers would gain access to a network of more than 300 destinations worldwide, making it easier for visitors from Europe, North America, Africa, and other regions to reach Nepal’s tourism capital via Dubai.
Mayor Acharya said years of coordination, technical evaluations, and consultations with key stakeholders have brought the project to a decisive stage, with an official flight launch announcement expected in the near future.The prospect of direct international flights has generated optimism among local residents and tourism entrepreneurs, who see the route as a major opportunity to strengthen Pokhara’s connection to global markets and accelerate tourism growth.
The service is also expected to benefit residents of Gandaki Province by reducing the need to travel to Kathmandu for international journeys related to employment, business, and tourism, while enabling foreign visitors to fly directly into Pokhara.
